Kyle Veris (born March 15, 1983) is an American soccer player. He was born in Washington, D.C.. Kyle played as a defender during his professional career.
Kyle Veris's Soccer Journey
Early Days and College Play
Kyle Veris grew up in Strongsville, Ohio. He started playing soccer in a youth league called the Lake Erie Youth Premier Soccer League. He played for club teams like Ohio Premier and Cleveland United. These teams helped him develop his skills.
Kyle also played high school soccer at Strongsville High School. Later, he played college soccer at the University of Akron for two years. There, he played as a center forward. In 2003, he moved to Ohio State. He changed his position to central defense. He was recognized as an all-Big Ten Conference player in 2004 and 2005.
While in college, Kyle also played for several teams in a league called the USL Premier Development League. These teams included Michigan Bucks, Toledo Slayers, and Columbus Shooting Stars.
Professional Soccer Career
In 2006, Kyle Veris was chosen by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. This is like a draft in other sports, where professional teams pick new players. He played 10 games for the Galaxy in his first season. However, he did not become a regular starter and left the team in 2007.
After playing for a team called Hødd in Norway for one year, Kyle returned to the United States. In 2009, he joined the Puerto Rico Islanders. The next year, in February 2010, he signed with Miami FC.
Kyle's last professional team was the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He signed with them on March 29, 2011. The Riverhounds play in the USL Pro league.
