This village is right on the Atlantic Ocean coast. It is next to another town called La Paloma to the south. A railroad track forms the border between them. To the north, it shares a border with Arachania.

La Aguada y Costa Azul officially became a "Pueblo," which means a village, on December 21, 1995. This happened because of a special law called Ley Nº 12.253.
