La Galera is a small town in Catalonia, Spain. It is located in the Montsià area, which is part of the province of Tarragona. In 2018, about 719 people lived there. La Galera is also part of the Taula del Sénia, a group of towns that work together.

History of La Galera
Some historians think La Galera might have started a long time ago, even in Roman times. But there are no old papers to prove this idea.
The first time La Galera is mentioned in official papers was in 1320. At that time, James II of Aragon, a king, gave the Archbishop of Tortosa control over the village. People believe that the town began to form around 1303.
Main Sights
The most famous building in La Galera is the Tower of La Galera.
The Tower's Beginning
The tower was built in 1340. It was made by the people living in the town. Its main purpose was to be a watchtower, helping to keep an eye out for danger. The tower has a rectangular base and is quite tall.
The Tower as a Church
Later, in 1684, the inside of the tower was changed. It became a church dedicated to Sant Llorenç. Work on the church stopped during the War of the Spanish Succession. During this war, the tower was used to store military supplies. The new church was finally ready and officially opened on August 15, 1711.
Culture
La Galera has a special tradition of making pottery.
Pottery Tradition
In the 17th century, people who made pottery came to live in La Galera. This art has been passed down through generations and is now an important local tradition. The town even has a museum that shows how clay pots and other items are made. Every May, La Galera holds a festival to celebrate its pottery.
Town Festivals
The town celebrates its main festival in August. This is a time for the community to come together and enjoy various activities.
Economy
The main way people in La Galera make a living is through agriculture. Farmers grow different crops in the area. The most important crops are olives, carob beans, wine grapes, and almonds.
