La Guancha is a small town located on the beautiful island of Tenerife. Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands, which are part of Spain. La Guancha is found on the northern side of Tenerife. It sits about 40 kilometers (25 miles) west of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is the capital city of the island. It's also just 6 kilometers (about 4 miles) east of another town called Icod de los Vinos.

La Guancha is a municipality, which means it's like a local government area. It covers an area of about 23.77 square kilometers (about 9 square miles). The town is located at an elevation of around 501 meters (1,644 feet) above sea level. In 2013, about 5,448 people lived there.

Where is La Guancha?

La Guancha is in the northern part of Tenerife, which is the largest of the Canary Islands. These islands are in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa, but they belong to Spain. Being in the north means La Guancha often has green landscapes because of the moisture from the ocean.

The town is part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This province includes the western Canary Islands like Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro.

What is the climate like?

La Guancha has a climate known as "Csb" according to the Köppen climate classification. This means it has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. Summers are usually warm and dry, while winters are mild and wet. This type of weather helps the local plants and crops grow well.

Population over time

The number of people living in La Guancha has changed a bit over the years. For example, in 1991, there were about 5,205 residents. By 2013, the population had grown slightly to 5,448 people. This shows a steady community in the area.
