La Horqueta, also known as Paso de la Horqueta, is a small, new community in southwestern Uruguay. It is located in the Colonia Department. This area is growing and has some interesting features.

Geography of La Horqueta
La Horqueta is found between two important waterways. To its west is the Miguelete Creek. To its east is the Río San Juan.
Several roads meet in this area. Routes 21 and 106 cross Route 22. This intersection is just east of a bridge over Arroyo Miguelete. This bridge is known as Paso del Pelado.
About 2 kilometers north of this spot, along Route 21, there is another bridge. This bridge crosses the Río San Juan. It is called Paso de la Horqueta, which is where the community gets its name. Near this bridge, you can find an old, unused church.
Life and Work in La Horqueta
La Horqueta has schools for its residents. There are two schools, one of which is a private school.
The main work in this community involves animals. This is called Animal husbandry. Farmers raise animals for different purposes. After that, farming and making milk are also very important activities.
This area has developed quite recently. In 2007, satellite images showed only open fields. By 2009, new houses had been built. These houses formed four blocks, showing the community was growing.

Local Organizations
The name "La Horqueta" is also used by some local groups. In Tarariras, a nearby town, there is an athletic club. It is called Club La Horqueta Wánderers. This club has a football team, the Horqueta Wánderers F.C.
There is also a racing car track in the area. It is known as Autódromo Pilón Banchero or Autodromo Juan A. Schnyder.
