La Huerta is a small community in Eddy County, New Mexico, United States. It used to be called Carlsbad North. The name "La Huerta" means "fruit garden" in Spanish. This name was chosen because the area once had many orchards and gardens. These gardens grew food for the nearby city of Carlsbad. La Huerta is a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a special area used for gathering population data.

La Huerta is located in the middle of Eddy County. It shares a border with the city of Carlsbad to its south. Carlsbad is the main city, or county seat, of Eddy County. The Pecos River flows about three-quarters of a mile south of La Huerta.
