The Old Railway Line
La Puebla de Híjar was once an important place for trains. It was the start of an old railway line. This line was called "Ferrocarril del Val de Zafán." It was meant to connect La Puebla de Híjar to other towns. These towns included Alcañiz, Tortosa, and Sant Carles de la Ràpita.
Work on this railway began a long time ago, in 1891. However, the last part of the line was never finished. This was the section between Tortosa and Sant Carles de la Ràpita. Because it was not completed, the entire railway line was eventually stopped. Today, it is an abandoned railway.
