Where Does the Lachance River Flow?
The Lachance River is part of a larger system of rivers. It's important to know which other rivers are nearby. These are called "neighboring watersheds." A watershed is an area of land where all the water drains into a particular river or lake.
Here are the rivers and areas near the Lachance River:
- North: The Bulstrode River and the L'Abbé River.
- East: The Gosselin River.
- South: The Nicolet River.
- West: The Nicolet River.
The Source of the Lachance River
The Lachance River starts west of a road called Demers road. This spot is just north of a small community named Saint-Norbert. This is where the river begins its journey.
The River's Path and Where It Ends
The Lachance River flows mostly in the same direction as the Gosselin River, staying to its west side. It eventually joins the Gosselin River on its east bank. This meeting point is in an area northeast of Victoriaville. The river flows through a small valley with a hill called Mont Saint-Michel nearby.
The Lachance River joins the Gosselin River about 3.8 kilometers (2.4 miles) before the Gosselin River itself flows into the larger Nicolet River.
How the Lachance River Got Its Name
The name "Rivière Lachance" was officially recognized on August 7, 1978. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is a group in Quebec responsible for naming places.
