Lady Eleanor Brandon facts for kids
Lady Eleanor Brandon (born 1519, died September 27, 1547) was an important lady in English history. She was the daughter of Mary Tudor, Queen of France and Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk. Her grandparents on her mother's side were King Henry VII of England and Elizabeth of York. This means she was related to the royal family! Eleanor was also the sister of Lady Frances Brandon, which made her the aunt of Lady Jane Grey.
Eleanor's Life and Family
Eleanor Brandon got married to Henry Clifford in 1537. After their marriage, she became known as the Countess of Cumberland.
Eleanor and Henry had three children together:
- Lady Margaret Clifford (1540-1596)
- Henry Clifford, who sadly passed away as a baby.
- Charles Clifford, who also sadly passed away as a baby.
