Lagumot Gagiemem Nimidere Harris (born 23 December 1938 – died 8 September 1999) was an important political leader from the small island nation of Nauru. He served as the President of Nauru. He was also a cousin of another Nauruan leader, René Harris.

Lagumot Harris: Nauru's President

Lagumot Harris first became the President of Nauru on 19 April 1978. He served for a short time, until 15 May 1978. This made him Nauru's third head of state since the country became independent in 1968.

His First Time as President

His first time as president was very brief. This was a sign of how often Nauru's presidents would change in the years after the country gained independence. This was different from the long time Hammer DeRoburt served as president.

Serving as President Again

Almost twenty years later, Lagumot Harris became President of Nauru for a second time. He was elected president again on 22 November 1995. He served until 11 November 1996.

After his second term as president, Harris also served as the Minister of Finance. He held this role in the government of Ruben Kun from December 1996 to February 1997.

Working with Other Leaders

Lagumot Harris was often involved in political discussions with another well-known Nauruan politician, Bernard Dowiyogo. Dowiyogo served as president seven times. During Harris's time in politics, Nauru's Parliament did not have strong political parties.

His Later Years

Lagumot Harris passed away in Melbourne, Australia, on 8 September 1999. He was 60 years old.
