Early Life
Laila Elwi was born in Cairo, Egypt. Her father, Ahmad Elwi, was Egyptian. Her mother, Stella, was Greek and came from a place called Icaria. Laila's grandmother, her mother's mother, was Italian. She moved to Egypt to work at the Marriott Mena House Hotel.
Career
Laila started her acting career when she was very young. At just seven years old, she was already on radio and television shows. When she was fifteen, she performed on stage for the first time. This was in a play called Taman Sittat (which means 8 Women). It was directed by Galal El Sharkawy.
