Lake Byron is a natural lake located in Beadle County, South Dakota, in the U.S.. It's an important part of the local environment. Water flows into Lake Byron from a stream called Foster Creek. From the lake, the water then flows out into the James River.

How Lake Byron Got Its Name
The lake gets its name from a person named Byron Pay. He visited the lake for a short time in the 1860s. While he was there, he carved his name into a tree. That's how this lake came to be known as Lake Byron!
