Lake Habeeb is a beautiful man-made lake, also known as a reservoir, located in Allegany County, Maryland, United States. It covers about 243 acres (98 ha) of water. The lake is fed by a stream called Rocky Gap Run and is nestled right next to the east side of Evitts Mountain.

Discovering Lake Habeeb
Lake Habeeb was created to be a fun and relaxing place for people to visit. It is now a big part of Rocky Gap State Park. This park also has the Rocky Gap Resort and a golf course nearby.
How Lake Habeeb Was Made
The lake was formed when the Army Corps of Engineers built a large dam in 1970. This dam holds back the water from Rocky Gap Run. The deepest part of the lake is about 74 ft (23 m) deep, right near the dam. Rocky Gap State Park officially opened a few years later, on July 17, 1974.

Lake Habeeb is a popular spot for many outdoor activities. It has three public beach areas where you can swim and relax. The lake also has a long shoreline, stretching about 9.4-mile (15.1 km). It's a great place for fishing too, as it has a healthy population of fish.

The lake is named after a local person named Edward Habeeb. He was a florist in the area who played an important role in starting the development of this beautiful lake and park.
