Lake Mohawk is a private lake in Ohio, USA. It is a special type of lake called a reservoir, which means it was made by people. It is located near the towns of Malvern, Ohio and Waynesburg, Ohio.

This lake is found in Brown Township and Harrison Township. It is a smaller lake, covering about 0.7922 sq mi (2.052 km2) of water. The deepest part of the lake is about 30 ft (9.1 m) deep.

Lake Mohawk was created by building a dam across a stream called Middle Run. This stream is a branch of Sandy Creek. Since it is a private lake, there is only one main place to launch boats. However, there are 13 public docks where you can rent space for your boat.

Living by the Lake

The community covers about 1,728 acres (6.99 km2) of land. There are around 1,700 private lots where people own homes. In 2010, about 1,652 people lived in 669 homes within the community.

Fun Things to Do

The community has many places for fun and activities:

  • Beaches: There are three beaches: Main Beach, West Beach, and South Beach.
  • Main Beach: This is the biggest beach. It has volleyball courts and tennis courts nearby.
  • Clubhouse and Pavilions: The Main Beach has a large clubhouse and a pavilion that can be rented for events. There are also three smaller pavilions on the beach.
  • Play Area: Kids can enjoy a large play area at Main Beach with swings and a jungle gym.
  • Swimming: There is a special area along the Main Beach shoreline just for swimming.
  • Water Ski Club: The Lake Mohawk Water Ski Club has its own dock at Main Beach.
  • Golf Course: Near the main entrance, there is a 9-hole golf course. You pay a small fee to play.

Getting Around

The community has three gates: the Main Gate, Keno Road Gate, and Lace Road Gate.

  • Key Card Access: The Keno Road and Lace Road gates can only be opened with a special key card.
  • Main Gate: Visitors, delivery trucks, and contractors usually enter through the Main Gate, where there is a guard house.

Local Schools

Most children and teenagers living in the Lake Mohawk area go to schools in the Brown Local School District. This district includes one high school, one middle school, and one elementary school.
