Lake Parrish is a special lake in Manatee County, Florida. It was built in the mid-1970s by a company called Florida Power & Light (FPL). The main job of Lake Parrish is to hold water for the nearby Manatee power plant.
This lake is mostly surrounded by grassy areas. The power plant itself is located on the southwest side of the lake. Lake Parrish has a somewhat rectangular shape. It is protected by a long wall, called a levee, on its south, west, north, and northeast sides. Two roads start at the power plant and go far out into the lake towards the north and east. State Road 62 is about 1,000 feet (300 m) south of Lake Parrish.
