History of Lake Tomahawk
The community of Lake Tomahawk was first named Tomahawk Lake. It was officially mapped out, or "platted," in 1892. The name came from a nearby body of water, Tomahawk Lake. Later, in 1928, the name of the post office was changed. It went from Tomahawk Lake to Lake Tomahawk, matching the current name of the community.
