Lakeview is a small community located in Coconino County, Arizona, in the United States. It is found south of a place called Mormon Lake. This area is quite high up, about 7,169 feet (or 2,185 meters) above the level of the sea.
What is an Unincorporated Area?
Lakeview is known as an "unincorporated area." This means it's a community that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town usually does. Instead, it's governed by the larger Coconino County government.
Lakeview and Mormon Lake
Sometimes, people get Lakeview mixed up with its neighbor, Mormon Lake. However, a government group called the Board on Geographic Names made it clear in 1966 that they are two separate places. Even though they are distinct, people living in Lakeview use a Mormon Lake address. This is because Mormon Lake has a post office, but Lakeview does not.
