Lamar Patterson was born on August 12, 1991. He is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Ipswich Force in the NBL1 North league. Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

College Basketball Journey
Lamar Patterson, a 6-foot-5 player, grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was a star at J. P. McCaskey High School and later at Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. He decided to play college basketball for the Pitt Panthers.
Freshman Year and Recovery
In his first year, Lamar hurt his ankle in November 2009. Because of this injury, he missed most of the season. He was given a medical redshirt, which means he didn't use a year of his college eligibility. This allowed him to play for five years instead of four.
Becoming a Key Player
Lamar returned to the court for the 2010–11 season. He became an important player for the Panthers. In his second year (2011–12), he became a starter. His scoring average jumped from 2.6 to 9.6 points per game. He finished that season strong, leading his team to win the 2012 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) title. Lamar was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. He averaged 13.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game during the CBI.
Senior Season Success
As a junior, Lamar helped the Panthers get back to the NCAA tournament. In his senior year, the Panthers joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Lamar had an amazing season, becoming one of the best players in the league. His scoring average went up to 17.1 points per game. At the end of the season, he was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting in the NBA and Turkey (2014–2016)
On June 26, 2014, Lamar Patterson was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2014 NBA draft. He was the 48th pick overall. Soon after, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. In July 2014, he played for the Hawks in the NBA Summer League.
He then signed with Tofaş, a team in the Turkish Basketball League (TBL). He played 29 games for Tofaş, averaging 11.2 points per game.
In July 2015, Lamar signed with the Atlanta Hawks again. He made his NBA debut on October 27, 2015. During his first NBA season, he also played for the Austin Spurs and Canton Charge in the NBA Development League. The Hawks later waived him in July 2016.
Playing in the G League and Puerto Rico (2016–2017)
In October 2016, Lamar joined the Reno Bighorns in the NBA Development League. In January 2017, he signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks, returning to the team. He signed another 10-day contract but then went back to Reno. He briefly signed a multi-year contract with the Hawks but was waived again to deal with a personal matter. He then rejoined the Bighorns.
In June 2017, Lamar played for the Puerto Rican team Santeros de Aguada. He averaged 15.8 points per game in 14 games.
Italy and China (2017–2018)
In July 2017, Lamar signed with the Italian team Fiat Torino. He left the team in March 2018. In May 2018, he signed with Lhasa Pure Land in the Chinese NBL.
Success in Australia (2018–2022)
In October 2018, Lamar joined the Brisbane Bullets for the 2018–19 NBL season in Australia. He had a great season and was named to the All-NBL First Team. He averaged 17.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 24 games.
In May 2019, he played for Wuhan Dangdai in China again. He then re-signed with the Brisbane Bullets for the 2019–20 NBL season and was again named to the All-NBL First Team.
In August 2020, Lamar signed with the New Zealand Breakers for the 2020–21 NBL season. He later returned to the Brisbane Bullets in March 2021.
Lamar also played for the Southern Districts Spartans in the NBL1 North during the 2021 season. He re-signed with the Bullets for the 2021–22 season.
NBL1 North Champion (2022)
Lamar joined the Gold Coast Rollers for the start of the 2022 NBL1 North season. He briefly played in Puerto Rico for Cariduros de Fajardo. He then rejoined the Rollers and helped them win the 2022 NBL1 North championship.
Recent Years (2023–Present)
In December 2022, Lamar signed with the South West Metro Pirates for the 2023 NBL1 North season. He re-signed with them for the 2024 season.
In 2025, Lamar joined the Mumbai Titans in the Indian National Basketball League (INBL). In April 2025, he signed with the Ipswich Force for the 2025 NBL1 North season. He had two amazing games in June and July 2025, scoring 45 points in each!
