Lamont Bentley (born October 25, 1973 – died January 19, 2005) was an American actor and rapper. He was best known for playing Hakeem Campbell on the TV show Moesha. He also appeared in the spin-off show The Parkers. Lamont Bentley was also in movies like Tales from the Hood and The Wash.

Early Life
Lamont Bentley was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 25, 1973. His mother's name was Loyce Bentley. Lamont grew up in Milwaukee. He went to Webster Middle School there. Later, he moved to Los Angeles with his mother. She wanted to become a professional singer.
Acting Career
Lamont Bentley started acting when he was young. He appeared in TV commercials and small roles on TV shows. He even practiced signing autographs by age 12. He worked odd jobs while waiting for his big chance.
His first big TV role was in the show South Central in 1994. He also appeared in the 1995 horror movie Tales from the Hood. In this film, he played a character named Crazy K.
In 1995, Lamont got the role of Hakeem Campbell in the TV series Moesha. Hakeem was the always-hungry friend of Moesha. The show was very popular and ran for six seasons.
After Moesha ended, Lamont continued acting. He also started a career as a rapper. He was part of a music group called UPRIZE. In 2001, he was in the movie The Wash. He acted alongside famous rappers Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. That same year, he played Tupac Shakur in a TV movie about MC Hammer. One of his last roles was in the crime drama Sucker Free City.
His Passing
Lamont Bentley passed away on January 19, 2005. He was driving alone in Ventura County, California. His car was going fast and left the road. He was sadly ejected from the vehicle. Five other cars then hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lamont Bentley was survived by his two daughters and his mother, Loyce Bentley. A memorial service was held for him. He was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
