Lanei Chapman began her acting career at a young age. When she was just 13, she appeared in a commercial for Kentucky Fried Chicken. After that, she started getting roles in various films and television shows.
Early TV and Movie Roles
She appeared in popular shows like The Wonder Years and China Beach. She also had a role in the movie White Men Can't Jump. Lanei Chapman even appeared in the famous science fiction series Star Trek: The Next Generation. In Star Trek, she played Ensign Sariel Rager, an officer who helped steer the spaceship.
Starring in Space: Above and Beyond
One of her most notable roles was Lt. Vanessa Damphousse in the science fiction series Space: Above and Beyond. She joined the show from the very first episode. The writers of the show even used some of Lanei's own experiences to help create her character. Even though fans tried to get the show to continue, it only ran for one season.

Lanei Chapman went to Dartmouth College and earned a degree in Spanish. She originally planned to study Drama, but she found the foreign language program very interesting and decided to switch her major. While in college, she also wrote a short play called Home Run.

Before becoming a full-time actress, Lanei Chapman was also a qualified teacher in California. For a short time, she taught kindergarten students. This shows she has many talents beyond acting!
