Lanie Lane (born 11 February 1987) is the stage name of Lanier Stefanie Myra Johnston. She is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist known for her blues and jazz style. Lanie released two studio albums between 2011 and 2014. She was nominated for five awards at the ARIA Music Awards in 2012. In February 2015, Lanie announced she was taking a break from the music industry.
Lanie used special guitars for her music. One was a 1957 guitar named Betty. Another was a 1966 electric Gibson called BoDidd, named after the famous musician Bo Diddley. She also had an unnamed 1960 archtop guitar. Her song, "Betty Baby", is a tribute to her guitar, Betty.

Lanie Lane, whose full name is Lanier Stefanie Myra Johnston, was born on 11 February 1987. She grew up in Sydney, Australia. Her journey into music began early, leading her to become a talented singer and songwriter.
Making Music: The To the Horses Album
In 2010, Lanie released her first single, "What Do I Do". This song became the theme for an Australian TV show called Crownies. In 2011, she recorded most of her first album. She also released a vinyl single with two songs, "Ain't Hungry" and "My Man".
One of her songs, "(Oh Well) That's What You Get (Falling in Love with a Cowboy)", came from a dream! Lanie said she woke up and her boyfriend told her she said something strange in her sleep. She then wrote a song about it.
Lanie's first album, To the Horses, came out in October 2011. It was very popular and reached number 12 on the Australian music charts. In 2013, the album was certified gold, meaning it sold many copies.
In 2012, Lanie performed at a big concert called A Day on the Green. She opened for famous bands like Icehouse and Hall & Oates. She also covered a song by The Black Keys for a radio show called Like a Version.
New Album and a Big Decision
In August 2014, Lanie released "Celeste". This was the first song from her second album, Night Shade. The album came out in October 2014 and reached number 42 on the Australian charts.
In February 2015, Lanie made a big announcement. She decided to take a break from the music industry. She explained that she still loved making music, but the "rock n roll lifestyle" and the desire for fame were no longer for her. She wanted to focus on other things.
