The Lansing Center is a really big building in Lansing, Michigan. It's the main place where large meetings, shows, and events happen in the city. You can find it right next to the Grand River, which makes for a nice view.

The center also has a special bridge called a skybridge. This bridge connects it directly to the Lansing Radisson Hotel. It's enclosed and climate-controlled, so you can walk between the two buildings comfortably, no matter the weather! Since 1996, a group called the Lansing Entertainment & Public Facilities Authority (LEPFA) has managed the center. They are a non-profit organization that helps run public facilities.

Discover the Lansing Center

The Lansing Center is a huge space designed for many different activities. It's often called a convention center. This means it's built to host large gatherings like trade shows, conferences, and big banquets. Imagine a giant hall where companies can show off their new products, or where thousands of people can attend a special event.

What Can You Find Inside?

The Lansing Center has a lot of room for all kinds of events. It has a total size of about 124,118 square feet. That's like having more than two football fields of space! A big part of this, about 71,760 square feet, is a wide-open area. This "column-free exhibit space" means there are no pillars in the way. This makes it perfect for setting up booths or large displays.

The center also includes many other useful areas:

  • A main exhibition hall for big events.
  • Lots of meeting rooms for smaller groups.
  • Special conference centers.
  • Banquet facilities for fancy dinners.
  • A restaurant and lounge.
  • A full kitchen to prepare food for events.
  • An underground parking garage with space for 500 cars.

How the Center Was Built

The Lansing Center first opened its doors in 1987. It was designed by a famous architecture firm called Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK). A few years later, in 1995, the center was made even bigger. Hobbs + Black Associates helped with this expansion.

The center has also been updated over the years. It had a big renovation in 2007 and 2008. This included making the building look nicer and also improving its structure. These updates help keep the Lansing Center a modern and welcoming place for everyone.
