The Lansing City Market was a unique indoor market located in downtown Lansing, Michigan. It was a place where different sellers could set up shops. The market was built right next to the Grand River (Michigan) and the Lansing River Trail. It was also just west of the Cooley Law School Stadium.
The building that opened in 2010 cost about $1.6 million to build. Inside, there were spaces for vendors that ranged from about 80 square feet to over 800 square feet. This allowed many different kinds of businesses to sell their products.
Market History
The very first Lansing City Market opened a long time ago, in 1909. It was located right next to where the newer market would later be built. This original building was taken down in April 2010. This made room for a new project that would include different types of buildings and uses.
In 2014, something exciting happened at the market. An episode of the TV show Food Court Wars from Food Network was filmed there. This show featured different food businesses competing against each other.
Sadly, the Lansing City Market closed its doors for good in October 2019.
