Las Bocas is a small fishing village located in the southern part of the Mexican state of Sonora. It is part of the Huatabampo area. Many families from Navojoa own second homes here, right by the beach.
Las Bocas is a popular place for people from southern Sonora and northern Sinaloa. They often visit on weekends and during holidays. It is especially busy during Holy Week, which is the week before Easter.

Discover the Beaches of Las Bocas
Las Bocas has two main beaches that people love to visit. They are called Playa Norte (North Beach) and Playa Sur (South Beach).
There are also other cool beaches nearby. To the south, you can find Camahuiroa. To the north, there are Tohahui and Bachoco.
- La Ballena: This is a small beach close to Tohahui. You can find little shelters called palapas here. One of them belongs to a person named Tachito Hernández.
Places to Stay and Services
If you want to stay overnight, there's a small hotel near the main square at Playa Norte. Many houses are also available to rent for your visit.
You can find several small grocery stores in Las Bocas. However, if you need a bigger supermarket, you'll have to go to Navojoa. There are no gas stations in Las Bocas. But don't worry, local people sell gas that they deliver. During Holy Week, you can find many places selling tasty local Mexican food and fresh seafood. Other types of restaurants are not usually available.
Getting Around Las Bocas
The village is about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Mexican Federal Highway 15. You can reach it by a paved, two-lane state road.
Playa Sur has a main road that is paved. This road is part of the Carretera Costera Riviera Mayo, which means Mayo Riviera Coastal Road. This highway connects Las Bocas to nearby beaches like Tohaui, Bajerobeta, and Bachoco. It also leads to the port of Yavaros.
The closest airport for commercial flights is Ciudad Obregón International Airport. It's about 100 kilometers (62 miles) away from Las Bocas.
