Las Choapas facts for kids
Las Choapas is a city and a surrounding area called a municipality in the southeastern part of Veracruz, a state in Mexico. It shares borders with other municipalities like Uxpanapa, Minatitlán, Moloacán, and Agua Dulce in Veracruz. It also borders Huimanguillo in Tabasco, Cintalapa and Tecpatán in Chiapas, and Santa María Chimalapa in Oaxaca.
Las Choapas is known for its important products. These include raising cattle, growing corn, and producing oil, fruit, sugar, and rubber. Long ago, it even had a factory that processed rice. It is one of the biggest municipalities in Veracruz, covering an area of about 2,851 square kilometers (1,100 square miles). In 2005, the city itself had about 40,773 people, and the whole municipality had around 70,092 people.
The weather in Las Choapas is very hot, with temperatures sometimes reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). It has also experienced some tornadoes in the past. The area is connected to towns like Raudales-Ocozocoautla in Chiapas by a special bridge called the Chiapas bridge.
Getting Around Las Choapas
Since September 13, 2024, Las Choapas has a stop on Line FA. This is a train line that is part of the Tren Interoceánico network. This new train service helps people travel to and from Las Choapas.
