Las Vegas Bay is a part of Lake Mead in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is like a smaller arm of the lake. This bay is found inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It is located northeast of the city of Henderson, Nevada.

What is Las Vegas Bay?

Las Vegas Bay is a large inlet or "bay" on the western side of Lake Mead. It is a natural area where water collects. The bay is an important spot for both nature and people.

Where is it Located?

You can find Las Vegas Bay in the state of Nevada. It is part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This area is a big park managed by the U.S. National Park Service. The bay is near the city of Henderson, Nevada. It is also close to where Lake Mead Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard meet.

Water Levels and Boating

In the past, Las Vegas Bay had a public campground and a place for boats. This boat area was called a marina. However, the water levels of Lake Mead have dropped a lot. Because of this, the marina in Las Vegas Bay can no longer be used. It had to move to a different spot. The new location is the Hemenway Boat Harbor. This harbor is in the southern part of the Boulder Basin. The boat launch ramp at Las Vegas Bay also had to close.

The Las Vegas Wash Connection

Las Vegas Bay is the natural end point for the Las Vegas Wash. The Las Vegas Wash is a channel that carries water from the Las Vegas Valley. This water includes stormwater and treated wastewater. It flows into Lake Mead through Las Vegas Bay.
