Laura Netzel facts for kids
Laura Constance Netzel (born Pistolekors; March 1, 1839 – February 10, 1927) was a very talented musician. She was born in Rantasalmi, Finland, but moved to Stockholm, Sweden, when she was just one year old. Even so, she was always proud of her Finnish heritage. Laura became a famous Swedish composer, pianist, conductor, and concert organizer. Sometimes, she used the special name N. Lago when she wrote music.
Laura studied music with many great teachers. She learned to play the piano from Mauritz Gisiko and Anton Door. She also studied singing with Julius Günther and learned how to compose music with Wilhelm Heinze in Stockholm. Later, she even studied with Charles-Marie Widor in France.
Laura Netzel was not only a musician but also a kind person who cared about others. She worked hard to help people in need. This included supporting women who were struggling, children, and workers. In 1866, she married Professor Wilhelm Netzel, who worked at the Karolinska Institute. Laura Netzel passed away in Stockholm in 1927.
