Lauren Crazybull is a talented visual artist. She is from the Blackfoot Confederacy and Dene peoples. Lauren grew up in Alberta, Canada. Today, she lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was also Alberta's very first Artist in Residence.

Lauren Crazybull's Art Career
Lauren Crazybull is known for her amazing portrait paintings. A portrait is a picture of a person. Her art has been shown in many places and recognized for its unique style.
Major Achievements
In 2019, Lauren was chosen as one of the top 30 artists for the Kingston Prize. This is a big competition in Canada for portrait painters. It showed how skilled she is at capturing people's faces.
A year later, in 2020, TIME Magazine asked her to create a special painting. She painted a portrait of Wilma Mankiller. This was part of TIME's "100 Women of the Year" project. It was a huge honor for Lauren to be part of such an important project.
Documentary Film
A film called IIKAAKIIMAAT tells Lauren's personal story. It was made by filmmaker Conor McNally. The documentary shows how Lauren has overcome challenges in her life. It has been shown at film festivals, including the LA Skin Fest and the imageNATIVE festival in Toronto.
Alberta's First Artist in Residence
In 2019, Lauren Crazybull made history. She was chosen as Alberta's first-ever provincial Artist in Residence. This was a very special job. More than 100 other artists applied for the position.
Role and Responsibilities
As the Artist in Residence, Lauren received a grant to support her work. She also had important duties. She attended cultural events across Alberta. She also worked to support other artists. Her role was to be a voice for the arts in the province.
Special Art Exhibition
Lauren's time as Artist in Residence ended with a solo art show. The exhibition was called "TSIMA KOHTOTSITAPIIHPA Where are you from?". It was held at Latitude 53 from January 24 to April 4, 2020. This show allowed many people to see her beautiful artwork.
