Laxå is a small town in Sweden. It's the main town in Laxå Municipality, located in Örebro County. In 2010, about 3,064 people lived there.
How Laxå Began
Laxå started in the middle of the 1800s. It grew because a very important railway line was built. This railway connected two big cities: Gothenburg and Stockholm. Laxå is right in the middle, about 229 kilometers (142 miles) from both cities. The railway was finished in 1883.
The Porla Well
Close to Laxå, you can find the Porla Well. This well has water rich in iron. Because of this special water, it became a popular spa. People visited the spa from 1724 until 1939. Even though it's not a spa anymore, its water is still famous. The water is bottled and sold as "Porlavatten." It has been sold all over Sweden since the 1920s.
