León Herrera Esteban (1922–2003) was an important Spanish politician and military officer. He served as the Minister of Information and Tourism for Spain from 1974 to 1975. This job involved managing how the government shared information and promoted tourism.

Early Life and Education

León Herrera Esteban was born in a city called Jaén, Spain, on July 4, 1922. When he was young, he joined the army and became a soldier in a cavalry regiment. He studied law at the University of Granada and earned his degree in 1942.

Political Career Highlights

León Herrera began his career in government in 1946. He first worked for the Ministry of Air, which dealt with air travel and defense. Later, he moved to the Ministry of Finance, which manages the country's money.

Becoming a Director

In 1962, León Herrera was chosen to be a director general in the Ministry of Information and Tourism. This meant he helped lead important projects for the ministry. He held this position for many years, until 1969.

From 1972 to 1974, León Herrera was the president of the European Conference of Posts and Telecommunications. On October 19, 1974, León Herrera was appointed the Minister of Information and Tourism. This was a very important job in the Spanish government.
