What Was Le Bistro Montage?
Montage was a restaurant known for being a bit different and very popular, especially with people looking for a late-night meal. It offered a special kind of dining called communal dining. This meant that strangers often shared large tables, which made for a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Food and Flavors
The restaurant served exciting Cajun food. This type of food comes from Louisiana and is known for its bold flavors. Some of the interesting dishes at Montage included alligator, frog legs, and a classic dish called jambalaya. These meals were served late into the night, making it a favorite spot for many.
History of the Restaurant
Montage first opened on Belmont Street in Portland. As it became more popular, it needed a bigger space.
Moving to a New Home
Later, the restaurant moved to a larger building. This new location was under the Morrison Bridge, at the site of what used to be the Royal Hotel. This new spot allowed more people to enjoy its unique food and atmosphere.
Closure and New Beginnings
Sadly, Le Bistro Montage closed its doors in June 2020. This happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused many businesses to close.
Montage Lives On
Even though the main restaurant closed, the spirit of Montage continued. A new food cart called Montage ala Cart opened. This cart is located in the Hawthorne Asylum, allowing fans to still enjoy some of their favorite Montage flavors.
