The Le Cartier Tower is a very tall building, also known as a high-rise, located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It's mainly an apartment building where people live. You can find it at 1115 Sherbrooke Street West, right in the heart of Downtown Montreal's Golden Square Mile area.

When it was finished in 1964, Le Cartier Tower was the tallest apartment building in all of Canada. It was even the tallest in the entire Commonwealth, which is a group of countries that used to be part of the British Empire. This impressive building has 32 floors above the ground and stands about 98 metres (322 ft) tall. It also has four basement floors, four elevators, and 188 different apartments.

The Story of Le Cartier Tower

The construction of Le Cartier Tower began in 1963 and was completed quickly in 1964. The company that developed it, ACI Property Corporation, faced financial difficulties in the mid-1960s. Because of this, the building was taken over by the Montreal Trust Company.

Later, in 1969, a person named René Lépine and Lorne Webster bought the building. Eventually, René Lépine bought out the Webster family's share. Today, the Lépine family still owns the Le Cartier Tower.
