Le Désert (which means "The Desert" in French) was once a small commune in northwestern France. A commune is like a small town or village that has its own local government. Le Désert was located in the Calvados area, which is part of the Normandy region.
On January 1, 2016, Le Désert joined with other nearby communes to form a larger new commune called Valdallière. This often happens in France when smaller villages combine to share resources and services.
