The Leader of the Opposition (which is Ceannaire an Fhreasúra in Irish) is a very important politician in Ireland. This person is the main leader of the political parties that are not in charge of the government. They lead the group of politicians who oppose the government in Dáil Éireann, which is Ireland's main parliament.
When the Dáil is meeting, the Leader of the Opposition sits in a special spot. They are on the right side of the Ceann Comhairle (who is like the speaker of the parliament) and directly across from the Taoiseach (who is Ireland's prime minister).
This role helps to make sure the government is doing a good job. The Leader of the Opposition and their party question the government's decisions and offer different ideas. It's a key part of how democracy works!

The Leader of the Opposition is usually the head of the biggest political party that is not part of the government. Their main job is to lead the "opposition" – meaning they challenge the government and suggest other ways to run the country.

The current Leader of the Opposition is Mary Lou McDonald. She is a TD (which means a member of the Dáil) for the Sinn Féin party. She has been in this role since June 2020.
