Leah Marie Liang Lewis (born December 9, 1996) is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows and movies. Leah played George Fan in Nancy Drew (2019–2023) on The CW. She was also Ellie Chu in the Netflix movie The Half of It (2020). In 2023, she voiced Ember Lumen in the Pixar animated film Elemental. Since 2024, she has been playing Sarah Franklin in the TV show Matlock.

About Leah Lewis

Early Life and Growing Up

Leah Lewis was adopted from an orphanage in Shanghai, China, when she was six months old. She grew up in Windermere, Florida. Later, her younger sister, Lydia, was also adopted from the same orphanage. Leah's parents, Frederick and Lorraine Lewis, work as realtors.

Leah found her love for performing arts at Crenshaw School in Orlando, Florida. She went to Thornebrooke Elementary School and Southwest Middle School in Orlando. During her teenage years, she often moved between Los Angeles and Orlando with her mother. When she was 17, she finished high school at Olympia High School in Orlando. Then, at 20, she moved back to Los Angeles by herself in 2016 to pursue her acting career.

Her Acting Journey

Leah started acting in commercials when she was very young. After her family moved to Los Angeles, she appeared in the 2012 Nickelodeon movie, Fred 3: Camp Fred, playing a character named Spoon.

In 2013, Leah tried out for The Voice, a singing competition show. She sang "Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood, but unfortunately, none of the judges turned their chairs, so she didn't join the show.

In 2015 and 2016, she was in Disney shows like Best Friends Whenever and Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything. She also had a main role in the web series Guidance. After finishing high school and moving back to Los Angeles, she started getting roles in TV shows such as Station 19 and The Good Doctor. She also had a recurring role in The CW series Charmed.

Leah then joined the main cast of another The CW show, Nancy Drew, which started in 2019. In this show, she plays Georgia "George" Fan, a character based on the original Nancy Drew books.

Her first big movie role was as the main character, Ellie Chu, in the 2020 Netflix film, The Half of It. In 2023, she lent her voice to Ember Lumen, the main character in the Pixar animated movie Elemental. In 2024, she was cast as Räv in the animated film The Tiger's Apprentice from Paramount.

Hobbies and Interests

Besides acting, Leah Lewis enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and photography. She has been dating singer and actor Payson Lewis since May 2016.
