Lefkada City (which in Greek is Póli tis Lefkádas) is a beautiful city located on the island of Lefkada, in the Ionian Islands of Greece. It's the main town and capital of the island. You can find it in the northern part of Lefkada.
In 2011, there was a big change in how local governments were set up. Since then, Lefkada City has been part of the larger Lefkada municipality. It acts as a special section called a "municipal unit" within this bigger area. In 2021, about 9,253 people lived in the city itself. The whole municipal unit, which includes the city and nearby areas, has a population of 13,540 people and covers an area of about 60.6 square kilometers (23.4 square miles).

Culture and Traditions
Unique Architecture
The buildings in Lefkada City are special because they are built to withstand earthquakes. Many houses use wood, logs, and lighter materials instead of just heavy stone. This building style helps them stay strong during tremors. The city's layout itself is very old, based on a medieval plan that was developed when the Venetians ruled the island. You can also find old churches in Lefkada City that show off this traditional building style. Some famous ones are the temples of Agios Spyridon, Agioi Anargyroi, and Panagia ton Xenon.
