Lely Resort is a special kind of community in Collier County, Florida, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town.
In 2020, about 7,619 people lived there. This was a big jump from 2010, when only 4,646 people lived there. Lely Resort is part of the larger Naples and Marco Island area.

History of Lely Resort
Lely Resort got its name from a Dutch inventor named Cornelius van der Lely. In 1972, he bought a huge piece of land, about 25,000 acres. His big idea was to build a community with over 10,500 homes.
Even though three golf courses were built in the 1990s, the project didn't move forward much. Then, in 2001, a company called Stock Development bought 340 acres. This helped the development of Lely Resort finally take off.
Where is Lely Resort?
Lely Resort is located in the western part of Collier County, Florida. It's near some important roads, like U.S. Route 41.
It shares borders with other communities. To the southwest is U.S. Route 41. To the west is Naples Manor. To the northwest is a place simply called Lely. And to the east, you'll find Verona Walk. Downtown Naples is about 7 miles (11 km) to the northwest.
The total area of Lely Resort is about 5.3 square miles (13.7 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, but about 0.3 square miles (0.9 square kilometers) is water.
