History of Lennon
The village of Lennon was started by a man named Peter Lennon. He was very important in getting the Grand Trunk Western Railroad to pass through the area. This meant a train station, called a depot, was built there.
After the railroad arrived, Peter Lennon built a grain elevator. This is a tall building used to store grain. Other businesses soon followed, helping the village grow. A post office was first set up in July 1880 in Genesee County. Peter Lennon was its first postmaster. Later, in February 1889, the post office moved to Shiawassee County.
