The community of Lenz got its name from John Lenz, who was an early settler in the area. Pioneers were some of the first people to move to and live in a new part of the country. Lenz was also a station along the historic Mount Hood Railroad. Sometimes, the name of this station was spelled Lentz, and it was also known as "Sherman Spur."
