Lenz is a small, quiet place in Klamath County, Oregon, in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own local government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes or buildings that are not officially part of a city.
You can find Lenz right on U.S. Route 97, which is a major highway. It's located directly east of the famous Crater Lake National Park. It's also about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of another community called Chemult.
Lenz sits quite high up, at an elevation of 4,554 feet (1,388 meters) above sea level. Imagine standing on top of a really tall building; Lenz is even higher than that!
How Lenz Got Its Name
Lenz became a known spot because of the railroad. It was a station along the Cascade Line of the Southern Pacific Railroad. This railroad helped connect different parts of the country.
The community was named after a person named Charles A. Lenz. He was one of the first people to settle in this area. He moved there before the year 1900, which was a long time ago! So, the railroad station, and later the community, took his name to honor him.
