Chemult is a small community in Oregon, United States. It's located in Klamath County, right on U.S. Route 97. Chemult started in 1924 as a train station. It was first called "Knott" during its construction. When the train line opened in 1926, the station's name changed to Chemult. A post office was also opened that same year.

The name Chemult comes from a Klamath chief. He was one of 26 chiefs who signed an important agreement. This agreement was called the Klamath Lake Treaty. It was signed on October 14, 1864.
