Leo is a small, quiet place located in Roseau County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a settlement that isn't officially part of a city or town government. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
A Look Back at Leo's History
Leo might be a small place today, but it has its own interesting past! Back in 1897, a special building called a post office was opened in Leo. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. Having a post office was a big deal because it meant the community was growing and needed a way to connect with the outside world.
This post office served the people of Leo for many years, helping them send and receive mail until it closed in 1915. The community itself was given its name in honor of Pope Leo VIII, who was an important religious leader many centuries ago.
