The Name of Lerose
The community of Lerose got its name from a person named Lleaner Rose. He used to run a local store in the area. People in the community knew him as Lee Rose. This nickname eventually became the name for the entire community.
A Family's Connection to History
Lee Rose later had a grandson named Chester Clay Rose. Chester Clay Rose was a brave person who was sadly killed during the Attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This was a very important event in American history. His body rests inside the remains of the USS Arizona, a ship that sank during the attack.
