Early Life and Family Music
Liam O'Connor was born in Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland. He grew up in a family that loved music. When he was just 10 years old, he joined his family's band. It was called The O'Connor Family. The band included Liam, his three brothers, and his three sisters. They traveled all over Ireland, playing traditional Irish music. They often performed with a group called Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, which helps share Irish culture. Today, Liam lives in Killarney, County Kerry.

Starting His Professional Career
In 1993, Liam O'Connor signed a big music deal with MCA Universal Music. He then released his first album, called The Awakening. A singer named Lisa Aherne joined him on this album. The Awakening was so good that it was nominated for an IRMA award. This album also caught the attention of Michael Flatley, who created the famous show Lord of the Dance.
Touring with Lord of the Dance
Liam O'Connor joined the Lord of the Dance show and toured with them for two and a half years. This was a huge experience for him. He played his accordion for audiences all around the world.
Big Performances and Achievements
Liam is the only Irish musician who has been asked to perform at the Ryder Cup golf tournament twice. This is a very special event! He also performed seven times at the All-Ireland Football and Hurling Finals. These are major sports events held in Ireland's National Stadium, Croke Park.
In 2006, Liam recorded the official song for the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The song was called "Morning Dew." He recorded it with a famous GAA broadcaster named Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. This song was a big hit and stayed at the top of the Irish music charts for six weeks!
