Liam James Rosenior (born 9 July 1984) is an English football manager and a former player. He is currently the head coach for the French club Strasbourg. As a player, he was a defender or a midfielder. He played for several well-known clubs like Bristol City, Fulham, and Hull City. He also represented England at the under-20 and under-21 levels.
Rosenior was a temporary manager at Derby County in 2022. He then managed Hull City in the EFL Championship from November 2022 to May 2024. After that, he became the manager of Strasbourg.

Playing Career Highlights
Starting at Bristol City
Liam Rosenior was born in Wandsworth, London. He began his football journey at Bristol City as a midfielder. He played his first game on 20 April 2002. He came on as a substitute and immediately helped his team score a goal.
On 28 December 2002, Rosenior scored his first goal for the club. Bristol City won that game 4–1 against Stockport County. He also scored a goal in the 2003 Football League Trophy final, helping Bristol City win the cup. He even scored the winning penalty in an earlier shootout during that cup run.
Time at Fulham
On 12 November 2003, Rosenior moved to Premier League club Fulham. The transfer fee was £55,000. In 2004, he was loaned to Torquay United in the Football League Third Division. Interestingly, his father, Leroy Rosenior, was the manager of Torquay United at the time.
Liam made his debut for Fulham on 22 September 2004 in a League Cup match. He was sent off in that game for diving. His first league game for Fulham was on 13 December against Manchester United. He played so well that he was named Man of the Match. He scored one goal for Fulham in a League Cup game on 21 September 2005. Fulham won that exciting match 5–4 in extra time. In July 2006, he signed a new four-year contract with Fulham.
Moving to Reading
Rosenior joined another Premier League team, Reading, on 31 August 2007. He signed a three-year contract. He played his first game for Reading on 15 September. His first goal for Reading came two weeks later in a high-scoring 7–4 loss to Portsmouth.
On 2 September 2009, Rosenior went on loan to Championship club Ipswich Town. He played 31 games for them and scored one goal.
Years at Hull City
On 29 October 2010, Rosenior joined Hull City. He made his debut the very next day. He signed a longer contract with Hull on 21 December 2010. He was very happy to stay, saying he was "delighted."
On 22 March 2014, Rosenior scored his only goal for Hull City. He headed in a rebound from a penalty kick. On 17 May 2014, he played in the important 2014 FA Cup final against Arsenal. Hull City released Rosenior and several other players on 28 May 2015.
Finishing at Brighton & Hove Albion
On 23 June 2015, Rosenior signed a three-year deal with Brighton & Hove Albion. He retired from playing football on 30 July 2018.
International Games
Liam Rosenior was born in England. His father, Leroy Rosenior, was a footballer for Sierra Leone. Liam was called up to the England U21 squad in March 2005. He played his first game for them on 25 March 2005. He also played for the England U20 squad in June 2005, where he scored one goal.
He later played in the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He made one appearance in the semi-final against the Netherlands U21 team. He scored his penalty in the shootout, but England lost the game. This was his seventh and final game for the England U21 team.
Coaching Career
Brighton & Hove Albion Coach
After he stopped playing, Rosenior stayed at Brighton. He became an assistant coach for Brighton's under-23 team. He also worked as a football expert on Sky Sports.
Coaching at Derby County
On 10 July 2019, Rosenior became a special first-team coach at Derby County. He was made assistant manager on 15 January 2021.
When manager Wayne Rooney left on 24 June 2022, Rosenior became the temporary manager. He was in charge until 21 September 2022. After a new manager was appointed, Rosenior left the club.
Managing Hull City
On 3 November 2022, Rosenior was named head coach at Hull City. This was a return to the club where he had played many games. He signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
On 17 December 2023, Hull City announced that Rosenior had signed a new three-year contract. This would keep him at the club until 2026. In April 2024, Liam Rosenior faced some unfair comments after being nominated for an award.
On 7 May 2024, Rosenior was let go by Hull City. The team had finished seventh in the league, just missing out on the play-offs. The club owner said they had different ideas about how the team should play football.
New Role at Strasbourg
On 25 July 2024, Rosenior was appointed as the new head coach of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg in France. He signed a three-year deal. In his first game on 18 August, he made history by fielding a starting team where all outfield players were under 23 years old. The game ended in a 1–1 draw.
