Liam James Rosenior (born 9 July 1984) is an English professional football manager and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Ligue 1 club Strasbourg.

As a player, Liam Rosenior was a versatile footballer. He could play as a full-back (a defender on the side of the field) or a winger (an attacking player on the side). He played for several well-known clubs like Bristol City, Fulham, Hull City, and Brighton & Hove Albion. He also represented England at the Under-20 and Under-21 levels.

After retiring as a player, Rosenior moved into coaching. He was an interim manager for Derby County in 2022. He then managed Hull City in the EFL Championship from November 2022 until May 2024. In July 2024, he became the manager of Strasbourg.

Playing Career Highlights

Liam Rosenior started his football journey at Bristol City. He made his first team debut in April 2002. He quickly showed his talent, even assisting a goal just seconds after coming onto the field.

Early Success at Bristol City

In December 2002, Liam scored his first goal for Bristol City. A big moment for him was scoring the second goal in a 2–0 victory against Carlisle United in the 2003 Football League Trophy final. This was a cup competition, and his goal helped Bristol City win the trophy! He even scored the winning penalty in an earlier shootout during that cup run.

Moving to the Premier League with Fulham

In November 2003, Liam joined Premier League club Fulham. He was bought for £55,000. Before playing for Fulham, he had a short loan spell at Torquay United. Interestingly, his father, Leroy Rosenior, was the manager there.

Liam made his debut for Fulham in September 2004 in a League Cup game. He later made his league debut against Manchester United, where he played so well that he earned the "Man of the Match" award. He scored one goal for Fulham, which was in a thrilling 5–4 League Cup win against Lincoln City in September 2005. He signed a new four-year contract with Fulham in 2006.

Time at Reading and Ipswich

On 31 August 2007, Liam joined another Premier League team, Reading. He signed a three-year contract. He scored his first goal for Reading in a high-scoring 7–4 defeat against Portsmouth.

In September 2009, Liam went on loan to Championship club Ipswich Town. He played 31 games for Ipswich and scored one goal.

Final Playing Days at Brighton

On 23 June 2015, Liam signed a three-year deal with Brighton & Hove Albion. He played for Brighton until he decided to retire from playing football on 30 July 2018.

Liam was part of the England U21 squad for the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He played in the semi-final against the Netherlands U21. England lost the game after a long penalty shootout, but Liam successfully scored his penalty. This was his last game for the England U21 team.

In December 2023, Hull City announced that Liam had signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2026. In April 2024, he faced some unfair treatment after being nominated for an award.

However, on 7 May 2024, Liam was removed from his role as manager. Hull City finished seventh in the league, just missing out on the play-offs. The club owner explained that they had different ideas about how the team should play football.

On 25 July 2024, Liam Rosenior was announced as the new head coach of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg in France. He signed a three-year deal. He replaced the previous manager, Patrick Vieira.

In April 2025, Liam extended his contract with Strasbourg until June 2028. He reportedly turned down offers from other clubs to stay. He finished his first season in France in 7th place, which meant the team qualified for the UEFA Conference League, a European competition!
