Libby Gleeson is a well-known Australian author. She writes many books for children and young adults. She was born in 1950 in Young, New South Wales, Australia. Libby is one of six children in her family. Her sister, Margie Gleeson, teaches creative and performing arts. Libby is also the mother of actress Jessica Tovey and journalist Josephine Tovey. She has been recognized as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). This award honors her important contributions to Australian literature.

About Libby Gleeson
Libby Gleeson studied history at the University of Sydney. After her studies, she worked as a teacher for two years. She taught in a small town called Picton, near Sydney. In the mid-1970s, Libby lived overseas for five years. She spent time in Italy, where she taught English. Then she moved to London. It was in London that she started writing her first novel, Eleanor Elizabeth.
When she returned to Australia, she taught at the University of Sydney again. For the past twenty years, Libby has written many books. She also teaches creative writing classes sometimes. She is very good at writing different kinds of books. These include picture books for young children. She also writes novels for young children and for slightly older readers. Libby has even written scripts for popular TV shows. These include the ABC's Bananas in Pyjamas and Magic Mountain.
Libby Gleeson is married to a scientist named Euan Tovey. They have three adult daughters. She lives in the inner west area of Sydney. Currently, she is a Fellow on a special team for MindChamps. This team focuses on education and research.
