The Dromkeen Medal is a special award given each year in Australia. It celebrates people who have done amazing things to help children's literature and books for young adults. This means they've made a big difference in getting great stories to young readers.
The award was started in 1982 by a bookseller named Joyce Oldmeadow. It's named after a place called Dromkeen Homestead. This old property, near Riddell's Creek, Victoria, was bought by the Oldmeadow family in 1973. They turned it into a museum all about children's books!
Since 2013, the State Library of Victoria has been the one to present the Dromkeen Medal.
