Liden is a small town, also called a locality, in Sweden. It is part of Sundsvall Municipality in Västernorrland County. In 2010, about 254 people lived there.

Where is Liden?
Liden is located near the Indalsälven river. It is about 50 kilometers (31 miles) northwest of the city of Sundsvall. You can reach it by following road 86.
The Story Behind the Name
The name Liden comes from the Swedish word for "a long slope." This refers to the land sloping down towards the river. The name was first written down in a letter from 1344. Back then, it was spelled De Lidh.
Liden's Historic Churches
The Old Church
Liden has a very old church. It is known as Liden Old Church. This church was built in the 1480s. A friar named Josefhus from the Dominican Order helped build it.
The New Church
A newer church was built later in Liden. This New Church was officially opened in 1858. It is located just a few hundred meters above the older church.
Famous Families from Liden
A well-known Swedish noble family, the Lidströmer family, originally came from Liden.
