Matsu Islands facts for kids
The Matsu Islands (simplified Chinese: 马祖列岛; traditional Chinese: 馬祖列島; pinyin: Mǎzǔ Lièdǎo) are a small group of islands located in the Taiwan Strait. This strait is a narrow stretch of ocean that separates Taiwan from mainland China. There are 19 islands in total that make up the Matsu Islands.
These islands are governed as a county called Lienchiang County (Chinese: 連江縣; pinyin: Liánjiāng Xiàn). This county is part of the Republic of China (Taiwan). It is the smallest county in the Republic of China. The Matsu Islands are known for their beautiful coastal scenery and unique culture.
