Lil' C's Music Journey

Starting Out: Making Beats to Pay Bills

Lil' C started making hip hop beats to earn money. He began this at a young age, selling his beats to friends at his high school. When he was just fifteen, he worked in a music studio. This studio was located under a radio station in Jackson, Mississippi. Working there helped him meet many people in the music world early on.

Big Breaks and Famous Songs

At 17, Lil' C produced the song "My Hood" for the artist Young Jeezy. This song was a hit from Young Jeezy's first album in 2005. Later, Lil' C met Jason Geter, the CEO of T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records. Geter was so impressed that he flew Lil' C to Atlanta, Georgia.

In 2006, Lil' C became very well known. He produced "Shoulder Lean" for Young Dro. This song sold over 2 million ringtones! This success helped Lil' C get his first music publishing deal when he was only 18. In 2007, Lil' C and T.I. started a music production team. They called it The Smash Factory, and Lamar "Mars" Edwards joined them.

Recent Work and Movie Music

In 2014, Lil' C produced a new version of "Heaven Knows." This song was for Tessanne Chin, who won The Voice. The song was released as a single later that year. In 2015, Lil' C signed a new deal with Kobalt Music Group. Also in 2015, he produced the song "Offset" for T.I. and Young Thug. This song was even included on the soundtrack for the movie Furious 7.
